Surrounded by picturesque parklands, Valley Lake offers massive grassy areas, perfect for picnics or BBQs, along with a playground for little tackers, quite a few scenic lookouts, and a community of nature trails. Umpherston GardensLocated on the Jubilee Highway 3 km east of the town centre, Umpherston Gardens is a remarkably lovely  sinkhole which has been landscaped with terraced gardens, hanging crops and palm timber. Between 1853 and 1867 the poet Adam Lindsay Gordon lived in the space. He worked as a mounted policeman, a drover and a horse breaker. There is a story that Gordon, an exceptional horseman, took a horse and leapt the old post and rail fence.

This beautiful water-filled volcanic sinkhole is positioned about a 15-minute drive from the centre of Mount Gambier, nestled on picturesque farmland alongside Mount Salt Road in Mount Schank. From the city centre of Mount Gambier, Mount Schank is located about 15 minutes south.
